First, we would like
to thank everyone who participated in the CrazyDrunkenMonkey
Service Industry Kickball Tournament. We would
also like to thank Mockler Beverage (Budweiser),
The Varsity, and Hooters for the prizes donated.
Hooters was also gracious enough to let us take
over their patio and drink lots of beer. Last,
but not least (well, maybe sometimes least) we
would like to thank the people who helped us organize
everything, especially the refs. You're my boy,
blue!
We know it is difficult to wake
up before 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon, but most
of you were able to handle it, we won't mention
those who weren't (we actually had one guy register
at 5:00). Even with the early morning wake up,
we had some great kickball action. Champps started
the day off right by losing two in a row to Parrains
and the Caterie. The upside to that is that they
were able to get completely trashed shortly thereafter.
Speaking of trashed, PF Chang's (Least Sober Team
award winner) lost their first game and then won
their next two. So now it is a proven fact that
massive amounts of alcohol will make you a better
kickball player. On a side note, if you know anyone
from the Chang's team, please call them to make
sure they have awaken from their alcohol induced
coma. Despite being knocked out in the second
round of the losers bracket, the Chili's team
had a lot of spirit, but next time please lose
the pink shirts. The two Hooter's teams may have
lost every game they played (except when they
played each other), but they were Matt's favorite
team to watch.

Both Varsity teams had an impressive
showing. Varsity A had a great run tearing through
the winners bracket only to lose two in a row
and be eliminated. Varsity B was knocked into
the losers bracket after round 2, but were able
to fight their way back to the championship game.
Parrains mollywopped Champps and Chang's, only
to run into two powerhouses: Tsunami and Varsity
B.

In an exciting championship game,
Tsunami took an early lead, 1-0 in the bottom
of the second inning. In the third Varsity B kicked
back, scoring two runs of their own. A couple
of scoreless innings followed, as both defenses
awoke (maybe from Tsunami's punch concoction laced
with Red Bull). Then in the bottom of the last
inning Tsunami was able to tie the game up with
some crafty base running. Time for extra innings.
Varsity B took a commanding lead in the second
extra inning, 4-2. Then with one out, Tsunami
put on their rally caps, drank some more of their
magical potion, and stepped up to the plate. They
tied the game up with some more spectacular base
running, leaving two men on the bases. The ball
was kicked and a man was thrown out at second.
As the infielders tried to make a play on the
man at third, the kicker tried to sneak to second.
The infielder's attention turned quickly to first,
and a rundown ensued. The kicker made it back
to first base safely as the man on third was crossing
home plate. Game over, Tsunami wins by a score
of 5-4.
